Titolo: “U carru e Santu Giustu”

L’opera reinterpreta la figura misteriosa di San Giusto, patrono di Palermiti, legato a racconti di masserie, querce e fontanelle tramandati dagli anziani.
Ispirandosi alle testimonianze raccolte da don Giusto Truglia nel volume dedicato al paese, l’artista immagina il santo come la carta del Carro del tarocco di Marsiglia: trainato da due vacche e incorniciato da querce, simboli dei luoghi della memoria collettiva.
Le parole sulla serranda sono tratte da una poesia di Franco Gullà, scritta nel dialetto locale.

Title: “U carru e Santu Giustu”

The artwork reinterprets the mysterious figure of Saint Giusto, patron saint of Palermiti, connected to stories of farmsteads, oak trees, and small fountains passed down by the village elders. Drawing inspiration from the accounts collected by Don Giusto Truglia in his book about the town, the artist imagines the saint as the Chariot card from the Marseille Tarot: pulled by two cows and framed by oak trees, symbols of the places rooted in collective memory. The words painted on the shutter come from a poem by Franco Gullà, written in the local dialect.
